ReplyDelete1. The science lab activity provides me with a better understanding as I am able to see for myself the changes.
2. I have learnt how the particles change when the state of water is changing. The most interesting thing is looking at how the temperature affects the particles.
3. It helped me to clarify that the particles do not change shape or size when the state is changing.
4. I would like to know if particles of other objects would react in the same way.
1. I feel that if both of the different activity were to be use i will learn better than just to use one of the type activity.
ReplyDelete2. Through the Sunflower Learning activity, I got to know the movement of the particles in different states.
3. I helped me clarify that the movement of particle are different i different states.
4. I would like to know about the particles in matter like with the characteristic of two different matter.
1.
ReplyDeleteThe lab activity gives me a better understanding of water phase change because when its hands on, we actually get to witness what is the standard procedure of water phase change, providing us with better knowledge
2.
The most interesting thing i learnt so far in this learning set is the movement of particles of the different states of water through the sunflower learning portal.
3.
Yes, it clarified to me that the change in state not actually only cause the empty spaces to expand, it speeds up its movement too.
4.
I would still want to know how the intermolecular forces of attraction break-away when heated and come back when cooled.
1. I prefer the computer lab activity helps me to understand about the three states of matter. It was more accurate with easy pictures and models.
ReplyDelete2. I have learnt about how the molecules of the water change in different temperatures.
3. Yes, at first i thought that the water only starts to boil at exactly 100'C but i have now learnt that it can boil before 100'C.
4. I want to know about other molecules like some metals.

ReplyDelete1.Between computer lab activity and science lab activity to investigate the phase changes of water, which method provides you with a better understanding? I prefer a mix of both. In the science lab activity we got a hands on experience and we saw what was happening with our own eyes this gives an accurate reading of the experiment and we also saw the temperature. But the reading of the temperature by us may be inaccurate and for water to melt takes a long time.
On the other hand using the computer gives you an accurate reading of temperature and it happens in less than a minute. But it is very boring and you can not see it in real life.
2.What have you learnt from this learning set(i.e. the datalogger experiment and sunflower learning activities activities)?
I have learnt about the heating curve of water, I have learnt how to use datasweet, I have learnt about how different elements' heating curves vary, I have learnt that the highest temperature water can go to is 165'c, I learnt about the different arrangements of molecules in different states and I learnt about the movement of the molecules of water.
3.Was there anything that you have learnt in this learning set that helped you to clarify what you knew before the activities?
I knew somewhat about the heating curve of water and the arrangement and movement of molecules.
4.What else do you want to know that is related to this learning set?
I would like to learn more about the heating curves of other elements, about the melting and boiling points of other elements, about how to draw other molecular arrangements and about what part of atoms are made of.

ReplyDelete1. Between computer lab activity and science lab activity to investigate water phase change, which method provides you with a better understanding? Why?
I prefer a mix of both methods. In the science lab activity, we got a hands on experience and saw the changes in the state of the water from solid to liquid to gas. We also got a more accurate temperature of the water heating up as compared to using the computer lab activity as in the computer lab activity, the increase in temperature of the water is constant but in the science lab activity, the increase in temperature of the water varies as time goes by. However, in the science lab activity, the reading of the temperature taken is also not 100% accurate as there are a lot of factors affecting the reading taken. e.g. wind. It also takes a very long time for the water to change state from a solid to liquid to ice. On the other hand, the computer lab activity takes lesser time as the animation is fast-forwarded. The computer lab activity also provides us with information of what is actually happening to the water in molecular size. We get to know the arrangement, motion, spaces between the particles as the temperate increases. The bad thing about the computer lab activity is that we do not get a hands on experience which may make it very boring.
2. What have you learnt from this learning set (i.e. the datalogger experiment and Sunflower portal activities)? What is the most interesting thing that you have learnt?
It takes roughly 15 min for a beaker of ice to melt and then boil. The most interesting thing that I have learnt is that the increment in the temperature of the water is not constant and gets lesser and lesser as the temperature if the water increases. I learnt about the different arrangements, motion and spaces between the water molecules in the different states of water. I have also learnt how to use Datasweet, Pedagogica and the Sunflower learning portals' software.
3 Was there anything that you have learnt in this learning set helped you to clarify what you know before the activities?
I know about the exact heating curve of water from solid to liquid to gas and the arrangement, motion and spaces between the water molecules as it changed its state from solid to liquid to gas.
4. What else do you want to know related to this learning set?
I would like to learn more about the heating curves, melting and boiling points of other elements and the arrangement, motion and spaces between particles when a element is in the fourth state - Plasma state.
1. The science lab activity provides a better understanding for me as it is applied learning. It is fun and educational so students could learn more and remember the information through doing. If is the computer lab activity, students can only imagine what will happen.
ReplyDelete2. I have learnt the arrangements, motion and spaces of the water molecules when they are in various temperatures and in different states. The most interesting thing I learnt is when the gas molecules are compressed bouncing up and down, left to right so fast. (Shown by Mr Wong)
3. The molecules stick together when they freeze but as it is heated, the molecules slowly release each other but the atom did not split. (Intermolecular forces of attraction)
4. I want to learn how glass and other objects can be molded into various things(Vases, Art, Pots, etc.)

ReplyDelete1. The science lab activities provides me with a better understanding because hands-on activities let me understand more and it lets me experience the whole thing myself.
2. I have learnt how the particles of water reacts when they are being heated. The most interesting thing that i have learnt is that the paricles actually vibrate when they are in liquid state.
3. I used to think that the particles stay at the same place even as the state changes.
4. I want to know how will the particles in a piece of metal react when the metal is being heated.

ReplyDelete1. Between computer lab activity and science lab activity to investigate water phase change, which method provides you with a better understanding? Why?
The computer lab activity as it clearly shows how does the water phase changes at perfect conditions.
2. What have you learnt from this learning set (i.e. the datalogger experiment and Sunflower portal activities)? What is the most interesting thing that you have learnt?
I learnt how does the water phases change in time. The most interesting thing that I had learnt was that water does not boil up too 100degrees sometimes.
3 Was there anything that you have learnt in this learning set helped you to clarify what you know before the activities?
How do water molecules actually looked like and how they were arranged.
4. What else do you want to know related to this learning set?
I want to know whether there is any colour change or shape change of the molecules and at what stage does it change (if there is).

ReplyDelete1) The Science lab activity provides me with more understanding as they are hands-on , they provide me with more understanding , I can observe the changes which take place in the experiments , we get to observe the effects of the water phase change with our own eyes and we will never forget the observations.
2)I have learnt how the water molecules react when its state changes and that the boiling point of water might not reach 100*c sometimes. For our case the boiling point of the water was 98*c only.
3) The way the molecules were arranged before and after heating clarified my doubts.
4)I want to know more interesting facts about other molecules.
1. The science lab activity provides more understanding because it is applied learning. It provides us with more information.
ReplyDelete2. I learnt about the different motions and speed of the water molecules
react at different temperatures.
3. That the boiling points and melting points differ.
4. I would want to learn more about other molecules other than water.

ReplyDelete1. Between computer lab activity and science lab activity to investigate water phase change, which method provides you with a better understanding? Why?
The science lab activity provided me with a better understanding.I learn better when i do things hands-on,and it will leave an impact on me,so it is very hard for me to forget it.
2. What have you learnt from this learning set (i.e. the datalogger experiment and Sunflower portal activities)? What is the most interesting thing that you have learnt?
I have learnt how the molecules move/bounce/vibrate at different temperatures.
3 Was there anything that you have learnt in this learning set helped you to clarify what you know before the activities?
Yes, I have learnt that when heating the water, the temperature will not continuously increase,as the temperature will sometimes drop, the rise again, but this could be affected by other factors,so this may not be accurate.
4. What else do you want to know related to this learning set?
i would like to learn more about other molecule, and how they react to temperature change, like water or differently?

ReplyDelete1.I think having the science lab activity to investigate the water phase change gave me a better understanding, because i can observe carefully and specifically about the changes of the water unlike the computer as they may not be accurate and does not compare to the live specimen but will also show the molecule rather than only the real specimen.
2.I have learnt the different states of matter, their arrangement, spaces and movement of the particles. The most interesting thing i learnt is during the lab activity where we had to melt the crushed ice, measure the temperature, record it and how it slowly change states.
3.At first i thought that the things we were doing for the states of matter was just a revision but to my surprise,we were learning about the particles and molecules, the movement, arrangement and spaces. This absolutely told me what was the difference between my primary school states of matter and chemistry states of matter.
4.I would like to know the other types of element or substance which can be in solid, liquid and gas and do some hands on experiment for testing and learning about them so i have an better understanding of them.

ReplyDelete1.Between the computer lab activity and the science lab activity,I prefer and feel that the science lab activity gives me a better understanding of the water phase changes because I can learn through applied learning better.
2.I have learnt how to plot a graph using the sunflower learning portal and the datalogger. The most interesting thing I have learnt is that I can observe the movement of the molecules using Pedagogical Application in my macbook.
3 Was there anything that you have learnt in this learning set helped you to clarify what you know before the activities?
I have learnt something very interesting,I used to think that when water boils, the temperature of the water will increase all the way to 100oC but after doing the experiment in the science lab I found out that the temperature of the water can decrease during the proccess and increase after that.
4.I would like to know whether there are other types of reactions when the molecules changes temperature.

ReplyDelete1: Computer lab activity. As It gives me a clearer idea of how the molecules looks like at each stages.
2: That molecules actually moves in a object.
3: Yes. This gives me a reason why hot air balloon will rise to the sky when it is being heated.
4: i think so... But I think I have to slowly explore it by myself. : D
1) I prefer science lab activity. It is better as it is a hands on activity and not just look at the experiment, then answer the questions.
ReplyDelete2)I have learnt how the molecules in solids, liquids and gases move when it changes its state. The most interesting thing i have learnt is how the molecules in solids, liquids and gases move when it changes its state.
3) At first, i thought there was nothing in solids, liquids and gases, but later i found out that solids, liquids and gases were made up of molecules.
4) I want to learn what are the other factors that would affect the molecules(how they move).
1- I think the science lab activities are better as they give us hands on experiences, and I like that. Also it is easier for me to understand.
ReplyDelete2- I am now able to visualize how the molecules behave in different states.
3- Yes what i thought how the molecules would behave.
4- I want to know what causes the inter-molecular attraction.
